Welcome to the first issue of Volume Four! It’s hard to believe it’s been four years since Circa opened its virtual pages. Since then Circa has published stories set in the Ancient World, through the Renaissance, and up to the twentieth century. Its readership has spread across almost every continent. We’ve come a long way from a simple WordPress template and an idea.
This issue does what Circa has tried to do all along: span the centuries while making the people of the past come startlingly alive. This time, instead of thematic grouping, I’ve ordered the stories chronologically. We start in Greece with The End of Akrotiri by Keene Short, which reimagines the final moments of the legendary, lost island, and end in the twentieth century with the infamous Bonnie and Clyde. Each story is a window, and by peeping into them, we see ourselves.
